Moving Mental Health into the Disaster-Preparedness Spotlight

Good day everyone.  I hope your summer has been treating you well.  I came across this research paper yesterday and thought you may be interested in its contents.  In short, the document discusses the need for the inclusion of post disaster mental health interventions within our disaster planning.  TEMA has been concerned about this issue for years.  Currently, within the province of Ontario, there is no mandatory requirement for the inclusion of mental health interventions within a disaster plan.  As evidenced in the aftermath of 9/11, Katrina, and the Gulf Coast oil spill, we believe that making the capacity to address mental health issues a central component of disaster preparedness and response.
